At the end of the day

I like to think you can tell something about kids by what they fall asleep with at night. Tonight mine fell asleep with the following:

Micky: 5 books tucked under his arm, his leg and his pillow, a growling tiger flashlight, and Buzz Lightyear

Emily: a stuffed animal, a stuffed animal, a stuffed animal, a stuffed animal, and the threadbare baby blanket I made her 5-1/2 years ago

Renton: his sketch book, a flashlight, a book on ornithology and Egyptology, and 5 pens

And me? Tonight I'm going to bed with a heating pad, a mouth guard and a full, happy heart.
